With the BP Gulf Oil Disaster from the Deepwater Horizon effecting the Northern Gulf waters, the environmental and economic impact will be significant. It is feared that the oil will get into the natural Gulf Loop Current and be carried south into the Florida Keys and up the Atlantic coast.
It is anticipated that southwest Florida beaches, estuaries and marinas will be largely spared from the adverse impact of the oil spill. Marine experts have stated that the same natural Gulf Loop Current should keep the oil well off our coast.
